This charming circa 1888 Old Florida Style Cottage, once owned by a well known local artist Jean Troemel, sits on a corner lot between Saint George St. & Charlotte St. in the heart of Downtown St. Augustine with direct views of Lake Maria Sanchez and the Marsh. Just a short walk to the heart of downtown St. Augusine and all of it's historic sites, Troemel's Cottage offers a unique corner lot featuring gorgeous Old Oak tree canopies that cover the antique brick paved driveway, giving you plenty of off street parking.

The interior of the home features equally as much space for you and your guest to enjoy your stay comfortably. Upon entering the home there is a sitting room with lake and marsh views to enjoy during those long conversations or simply to enjoy with your morning coffee. The adjacent formal dining room, with a mural painted by the former artist, provides a great way to savor your meals. Your meals can be prepared in the kitchen which hosts the essentials you need to cook your meals.

The living room is centered within the home for you and your guests to relax while watching TV, or catching up on a good book by the fireplace mantle. (Please note, that the fireplace is not operable.) On the other side of the living room is access to the screened in Florida room for those evenings when you simply want to watch the world go by.

Off to the other side of the living room, are the bedrooms. The bedrooms are a bit unconventional as you must walk through one room to enter the other, but they are arranged to accommodate you and your guest. To the left of the living room is bedroom 1 with a queen-sized bed, which is attached to bedroom 2 with a full-size and twin-size bunk bed. Attached to bedroom 2 is a 3/4 bath that hosts a walk-in shower. To the right of the living room is a office room, which has a hosts a full-sized fold out couch and a desk, for filling out the post cards to send home. Attached to the sitting room is a full bath. On the other side of the sitting room is a bedroom 3 with a king-sized bed.

    This stay was about as close to perfect as it gets. The house was reasonably priced, perfectly located and large enough to accomodate two families (8 people). The house is older (very cool) but modern and up to date on the inside. Plenty of space in the kitchen and dining room to prepare and serve meals for the family. I really enjoyed being walking distance from the St.Aug historic district and waterfront. I also enjoyed being right next to a salt marsh that was teaming with wildlife at low tide! Was able to walk right out the back door and score some great wildlife footage. This may not be the most modern home with all the top of the line amenities. But is has history, character, and space galore! And location, location, location! Oh and I must mention, it has a legendary HVAC system. I like to be cold when I sleep at night and this little cottage delivers. Like I said, nearly a perfect stay for us. I couldn't ask for more!

    This is a lovely cottage with sun-filled rooms and a great screened porch. Very inviting. You can watch all the birds on the and see the horse-drawn carriges in the afternoon. Walk to town. It's great.
